Hi there. Im Katie (or Kate as I am known by some around here).  I was born and raised around Seattle, Washington (ha, Washington state that is).  I just turned twenty four and I have a degree in English Literature and a minor in sociology.  I love learning, I love talking with people, I love the pacific northwest, I love the people in my life very much and I do love me faith; each of these has had an great impact on who I am and who I want to be and I am so excited to be beginning a new year in Philadelphia.

  Very few people I know from back home had ever heard of FVM or the St.Francis Inn and the ministering it does for the poor in the area.  I actually stumbled upon the FVM website.  I was very excited to find such a neat program, especially one which had a Franciscan focus.  And coming to Philly, and being an FVM involved with the Inn has so far, proved to be everything I hoped it would be, filled with fun as well as hard work and new perspective on life.  The ministry is amazing in it focus to not only serve but appreciate those people in these poorer and difficult circumstances.  The Inn is an incredible ministry and I am so excited to see what this years challenges and joys as a Franciscan Volunteer Minister will bring :)
