I was born in the Dominican Republic and at the age of 12 moved to the United States.  It was hard adapting to a new culture and learning English but with the support of my family I was able to go to high school and finish a bachelor's degree in Psychology at Merrimack College.  Thanks to God's grace I am here today.  I have been blessed with an inspiring family; they are the reason I strive for more everyday.

I decided to do service because I felt called by God.  When I came for my interviewed I saw myself belonging to each site, especially when we went to Delaware Park in Wilmington.  By then I knew FVM was going to be my next destination.  Also the presence of Franciscan Friars in my hometown (Lawrence, MA) helped me lean towards a Franciscan Program for my year of service.

For this year I hope to find God in others and also be presence to others as a representation of God.  I strive to have a strong relationship with God through prayer thus when people approach me they do not see me but the Jesus that lives in me.  Through that act I intent to bring the good news to the world that was given to me by the Pope Benedict the XVI in World Youth Day last month.

Last week we went to an English charismatic meeting at Jesus's house.  When we got there we were welcomed by a small group of elderly couples who were the owners and contributors of Jesus house.  I have to be honest and say that this meeting is not like the Latino charismatic meetings I grew-up with in the Dominican Republic, nor is not similar to the charismatic meetings at St. Paul's in Wilmington.  Nonetheless this small group of charismatics showed me that God is in every corner of this earth.  Without absence this group of people meet weekly and they pray for the youth, the immigrants, the less fortunate and more.  They were so happy to see us and to share prayers, songs, and praises with us.  It was a nice experience for me because two of my community members and I went looking for a the charismatic meeting and by just being there we brought so much happiness and blessing to them.  It touched my heart because it open my eyes to the little wonders of God.
